SUAVE was more than our first team project — it was a journey into the heart of a story. Created to honor Ataniro and his 30 years in farandula, artists from Aruba and abroad came together not only to perform his music, but to understand the life behind it.
We walked the streets where he grew up. We sat with the community. We shared food, played basketball and dominoes, and listened to stories in a neighborhood that shaped his rhythm and resilience. In those moments, his lyrics became real — no longer just songs, but lived experience.
Meeting Ataniro himself, hearing his journey, seeing where he once stood and where he stands today, gave the team something deeper than choreography — it gave perspective.
From that connection, SUAVE was born — a performance of theatre and dance built not only on music, but on roots, struggle, growth, and pride.
SUAVE marked the beginning of Popcorn’s journey in cultural storytelling — a first step that would later grow into international collaborations, structured team projects, and platforms like Dream, Dare, Do. It reminded us that when art is connected to history and heart, it becomes a bridge between generations and cultures.
