Dream, Dare, Do 2011

The Beginning of DDD - When a Dream Became a Platform

Freddy Tromp

From its first edition in 2011, Dream, Dare, Do was built on the belief in young people.

That belief began with Daniela Ramos, a Popcorn Soldier who joined at just 11 years old. After losing her parents at a young age, Popcorn became more than a club; it became a place of strength, discipline, and belonging. It was within that environment that she discovered her voice and her vision.

Years later, while studying Culturele Maatschappelijke Vorming, Daniela transformed her academic project into something deeply personal. Together with a fellow student, Lieke Rietkerk and Freddy Tromp, the founder of Popcorn Club, she created the first edition of Dream, Dare, Do in 2011.

It was Daniela’s dream to build a platform where young people could experience the same empowerment she had found.

From that first edition, Freddy carried the vision forward, expanding and strengthening it year after year. What began as a student project rooted in personal resilience has grown into an international platform, welcoming European Solidarity Corps volunteers and connecting cultures through leadership, arts, and shared growth.

Dream, Dare, Do is proof that when a young person is given belief and opportunity, their dream can become a movement.
